50th Card

No challenges tonight I am way too tired to get my head round any. I am doing 4 days at work this week as am covering one of the others girls shift whilst she is on her hols and have had really busy days with lots of customers and stock deliveries. Then on Wednesdays straight after work I go and help my friend out at WW class so didnt get back in till 7.30pm. Then I remembered I hadn't done my uncles card for tomorrow he is the big 50 and we are all going out for a meal to celebrate. Then on Sat he is having a surprise party, so looking forward to that and catching up with relatives that we dont see that often. My dad was one of 16 children,(and they went on to have children, and they went on to have children and so forth) so we have a very big extended family stretching all over the country. Some family we are very close too and others we only get to meet up with at these family parties which is great. So here is my card for my uncle Mick can you guess who he supports? answers on a postcard please lol!!!.

Papers are Papermania Male collection, Jolly Nation decoupage, Coredinations cardstock embossed with a Big Shot using Sizzix embossing templates & ribbon from stash.

Did you hear the screaming!!!!

If you were in the Wednesfield area about 9.15am this morning you may well have heard the screaming coming from that little craft shop is Ashmore Park. The reason I hear you ask was because I managed to get tickets to see the one and only TAKE THAT at Coventry next year. I am so excited I loved them when they first came out in my teenage years and I still love them now. As I was at work I had my mum sitting at her computer at 8.45 getting everything set up to get the tickets and she managed it (well done mum). So I am now the very proud owner of 1 ticket to see Take That (well I will be when it comes). My stepmom and friend Emma are coming with me and we are gonna have a great time. I think my friend is still screaming now she was so excited, she sent me a text telling me she had texted everyone she knew to tell them. So that is now good thing No. 4 to happen don't know what I have done but I must have done something right, think maybe him upstairs in the clouds is making up to me for all the crap we have had lately.

Card for a friend

I have made this card for a friend of mine who is going to swap some images with me. She agve me some Penny Black images a while ago as she know I love them, and is doing me some more so I said I would do her some of mine and we could have a little swap. She has not been feeling well lately so I have made her this card to go with the images to cheer her up a bit. Hope you feel better soon Amanda, and this little package is waiting at the shop for you.

Papers are DCWV Rose Tinted Christmas, Image is Magnolia Tilda with Present, Making Memories flower and charm from stash.

Stamp Something Friday

The theme over at Stamp Something Friday is Thanksgiving, you can do anything you like as long as it is a card giving thanks for something. This theme is fab for me as I have made a thanks card for a lovely blogging friend who replied to my post re: Image swap, she is sending me some lovely images and I am doing the same in return. This is the card I have made for her and I have packed it full of yummy images. I applogise for the pic, the colours are much more muted in real life.

Papers are Papermania Retro Floral, Images is Magnolia Tilda with hearts, Prima flowers, Sizzix swirl, Papermania brads. The sentiment is my own computer generated.

Friday Sketchers 29

Hubby is on nights, Abbie is at nanny's as I am at work tomorrow and obviously hubby will be in bed. Oli had been occupied upstairs on his PS2 so I have had the whole evening from 6pm all to myself. What have I done with myself? made cards!!!! . This is my entry for the Friday Sketchers challenge. As the sketch was a DL size rather than the normal sq I had to dig out my 8x8 papers instead of my normal 6x6, I found these lovely floral ones that I forgot I had and I thought they would go lovely with one of the images my friend Amanda sent to me.

The papers are Papermania Retro Floral, Penny Black image, Prima Flowers & Papermania brads & rub on sentiment.

Could life be any better!!!!

That is my question, and at the moment my answer would have to be NO!!!!!!. Things just seem to be going right for me for once (apart from today when Abbie had a huge paddy whilst picking Oli up from school and proceeded to throw herself down onto the playground). Not only did we have the fab and wonderful news about Abbie this week end just gone (see earlier post for details). The postie arrived today with my Whiff Of Joy stamps that I won from Katharina which I am dead chuffed about especially as I got a Lizzy one. I then come on here to find that I won challenge 41 over on at Funky Fairy's (thanks Sarah for sending me in the right direction). I have yet to find out what my prize is but I will let you know when I do. So I feel a bit like I am on cloud nine, well they say good news comes in 3's and it certainly has for me. Anyway onto todays cards, I have not made any for a challenge today but a couple of personal ones for my brother-in-law whos birthday is on fri. Now he is only really into 2 things-fishing & clay pigeon shooting (how the other half live hey!). Anyway found a fed decoupage of a fisherman in the Jolly Nation collection, which was our card sorted, but do you think I could find anything to put on an uncle card. In the end I cheated and just spelt out the word uncle in cut out letters.

The inside of this card says 'and thats just your age'.
Papers & chipboard shapes are all from the Dovecraft masculine collection. Sentiment is computer generated.

Papers & brads are all from Papermania Male collection, sentiments have been printed off the computer directly onto the card.

Sketch Saturday Sketch 26

Over at Sketch Saturday there is another fab sketch. Its a sketch that tends to lean towards the clean & simple rather than fussy. I made this card last night, and I was so inspired by a card on Gina's blog using blue and brown, that I followed suit and used the same colours. So thanks Gina for your inspiration.

The papers are Basic Grey - Offbeat collection, Image is the essentials by Penny Black, Sentiment is a Sizzix rub-on, Sizzix cardstock & buttons from stash.

FAB NEWS !!!!

Hi everyone, I just thought I would tell you about our fab news that we had this weekend. Now its nothing at all to do with crafting, but my little girl. As you know from my profile Abbie has Cystic Fibrosis and life with her is a daily routine of meds and pyhsio etc (I wont go into details). Anyhow a few months ago after a routine check up in hospital one of her cough swabs came back postive for a bug call Peusdomonas which can be very damaging to the lungs. This is a bug that people with CF are are at a high risk of catching, now normally it is expected that a child with CF will have cultured this bug by the age of 9-10 now Abbie is only 2 so it was a massive blow to us. She was started on a very aggresive form of antibiotics and was put on a nebulizer for 3 months. She needed to have 3 clear cough swabs taken monthly to come back clear, which would mean that for the time being the bug had been erradicated (it can keep coming back and if it does she will be on this nebulizer permanently). Anyway we have had a tough time with her getting used to this nebulizer and the drugs in it have reacted badly with her face, some days she looks like she has got acne. Well over this weekend we had the call from her nurse to say the last cough swab has come back clear, to say we are over the moon is an understatement (I have tears of happiness in my eyes just writing this). So this now means that for the time being she has managed to get rid of this nasty bug and can come off the nebulizer wey hey!!!!!!!!!!. You would not believe how much that phone call meant to us as a family. We have also had an application form to fill in from Dream Holidays (they specialise in giving families if children with CF a holiday to give them a break) so fingers crossed we should have a nice holiday to go on next year. Just hoping now that our next trip to Birmingham Childrens will go smoothly as well, they were a bit worried about her weight last time, so hopefull she has put some on this time or that could mean more meds.
Anyway thanks for listening to my ramblings, just has to tell you all.

One Stop Craft Challenge wk 5

Over at the One Stop Craft Challenge there is a great sketch to follow this week. I decided to use one of the decoupage images I had put together and used it in conjunction with this layout.

Secret Crafter Challenge No 8

Well I had 2 complete hours to myself this afternoon as nanny came and took the 2 kids off to a party. Great I thought got all my stuff out and got ready to make some cards. Oh dear my mojo had got up and mojoed off, I could not for the life of me come up with a good design, so I got some blog hopping done and spent lots of time texting my friend about the joys of owning a Big Shot and teased her cause I had got mine out and was playing with it. She coming over tomorrow to have a play with mine before she commits. Anyway about decided to do the Secret Crafter challenge which this week is Decoupage, so I got my limited No. of sheets out ( I dont really do decoupage for myself only really for samples for the shop). I did have some left over though so which were Jolly Nations die cuts ones so spent some time putting those together, then guess what couldnt decided which one to make into a card. In the end decided on 2 so have used 1 for this challenge and the other for a different challenge (see next post). This is the card I made for the Secret Crafter Challenge :-

The decoupaged image is Jolly Nation christmas fairy, papers are Papermania A Wonderful Christmas Time, Scalloped circle cut out using my Big Shot, Pointsetta from Hobbycraft and Scrolly things in the corners are from a Studio G clear stamp set. Didnt bother adding a sentiment to this as Merry Christmas is printed all over the circle behind the fairy.

WOW !!!!

Update 23/11/08 - I have now been given this award by the lovely Sarah as well.
I have been racking my brains all day today thinking of who to pass this onto. Well I am going to chicken out as I have so many blogs that I like to vist (you are all listed on the RH side) that I would like to give it to everyone of you. Now I know this has been doing the rounds over the last few days and I think that most of who I would had passed it onto have already received it from someone else. So if you are one of the blogs that I love to vist please award yourself with this award with much love from me.

WOW!!! I have just been given this fab award by Joey.

This award states that:
This blog invests and believes the PROXIMITY- nearness in space, time and relationships. These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends,They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement.Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated,Please give more attention to these writers.
This award is to be passed onto 8 more Bloggers for all the reasons listed above.

I am really touched to receive this award, purely for the reasons above. I have made so many friends on here since I started blogging (which was only october) and I think it is wonderful to see how many people check out each others blogs and leave such lovely comments. So far everyone I have come into contact with has been so pleasant and helpful and its just great.

I will have to come back to you on my 8 chosen peeps, as I should really be in bed now, so I will list them tomorrow (hope you dont mind).

Thanks so much Joey.

Papertake Weekly meets Cute Card Thursday

The themes over at Papertake Weekly and Cute Card Thursday is Snow, they want to see snow, snowflakes etc on the cards. As I am in rush with not a lot of crafting time this week, (hubby is back on shift tomorrow and I am doing 4 days at work this week). I have decided to combine these 2 together.

Forever Friends wk 3

The challenge over at the Forever Friends challenge blog this week is `Round the Bend'. you have to include circles on your card. I ended up making 2 as again I wasnt happy with the first one, but I do like enough not to put it in the B file.

This one was made following a Sketch Saturday sketch no 23 from a few weeks ago by Coco. Papers are Papermania A wonderful christmas time, Forever Friends sticker, Sizzix cardstcock, Papermania embellishment and the greeting is my own computer generated.

This card was again made with Papermania A wonderful christmas time papers, Forever Friends sticker and Sizzix cardstock. The Sentiment, Holly and Present are Rub Ons I found in my stash.

Mojo Monday wk61

Ok I think my mojo may have gone walkabouts. I am not happy with any of the cards I have made today, but hubby is at work tomorrow and I dont think I will get much crafting done so these will have to do for the challenges. This card was made following the sketch over at Mojo Monday it is actually the 3 card I made following this sketch but I was really not happy with the other 2 and have put them in the B file. (B for bin). I also pre printed the greeting on the bottom and the stupidly picked paper with the same words on it so we have a `Merry Christmas' overload.

The papers are Papermania A wonderful christmas time, Image if Forever Friends, Papermania brads, Sizzix cardstock and pointsetta from a bunch at Hobbycraft.

Sketch Saturday Sketch 25

Friday Sketchers 28

Over at Friday Sketchers Mumur had created a fab sketch. It looked a bit tricky at first so I played it safe and made my design up onto a backing piece before I attached it all to the cardstock. I have to say I am well pleased how it turned out and think I may well use this layout again. I slightly misplaced the image on the card a bit too much over to the right, but by the time I realised it was stuck fast so I left it there. I still think it looks ok though, just hope they accept it over at the blog. (again sorry about the pic, its a night time one again)

Papers are Basic Grey Two Scoops, Image is Sugar Nellie Summer Ice Cream, Prima flowers & PM brads, sentiment is my own computer design & buttons from stash.

Birthday Handbag meets One stop Craft Challenge

It was my cousins 16 birthday today and about 10 of us went out for a meal to celebrate, had a lovely time and I had chicken korma, rice & chips yummy yummy (no good for my diet though and I get weighed tomorrow). I was a little good afterwards as I didnt have desert and that is very unusual for me. Anyway We had got her this lovely little necklace and earing set for a pressie and I wanted to make some thing to pop it in. Well at one point I did know how to make a box out of 2 pieces of paper, but for the life of me do you think I could get it right. Half an hour later a gave up and came up with this idea. I took a handbag shapped card and cut it down the seam, I covered the two halves in paper and with the same paper made a strip which I scored and folded into a zig zag shape. I attached this to the bottom edges of each half of the handbag and took it slightly up the sides, so it gave the bag a bottom. Added some prima flowers with gem brads, punched out a tag and whoila!!!. I was quite pleased with the results and my cousin loved it. (sorry about the pic, I dont take very good night time pics). I have now decided to enter this for the One Stop Craft Challenge blog, as the theme this week is pretty petals.

Papers are Dovecraft Hint of Pink, Prima Flowers, Dovecraft Tag Punch & Gem Brads.

New Baby Girl

I made a couple of cards (about a week ago I think) for my niece who was about to give birth anyday. Well she had the baby on Fri a whopping 9lb 11oz and she has called her Tallia-Lei. I am off to see her tomorrow and cant wait to have a cuddle. She had a bit of a tough time in labour, and apparently it was a bit touch and go, but she managed to have her naturally in the end and all is now fine with mom and baby. My poor niece she is only 17 (I know dont say anything) and it must have been pretty scary for her, but my sis was with her all the time its amazing what you can do with the strength of you monm beside you. Anyway the cards I did make for her have been stolen off me by my mother as she fell in love with them and wanted to give her them herself. So I have had to make another one today, so here is my offering to her.

The papers are DCWV Nanas Nursery, Image is Tilda with Tingla, Prima flowers, Doodlebug sugar coated brads, Basic Grey Sugar rub-on and ribbon from stash. Hope she likes.

Penny Black Challenge

This is the second card I have made this afternoon and it is for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge. The theme this week is Monocromatic, you could either go for the monocrome look or use different shades of the same colour. I have opted for black and cream, as I have this lovely little pack of papers that were asking to be used. I have also used my lovely Ginger stamp again, as I thought she would suit perfectly.

Papers are Craft House Allsorts collection, image is Penny Black Ginger coloured with whispers brushmarkers and buttons are from stash.

Am off now to see if I can get another one done before madam wakes up. xxx

Cute Card Thursday

I am feeling loads better today, the pain in my tooth is down to negligable and I'm not so fed up. So whilst Abbie is having her afternoon nap I have made a couple of cards. Now she is m ore tired than normal today so am hoping she has a good couple of hours. The little bugger was put to bed last night about 9pm (we let her stay up a bit being as it was Saturday) and whilst we were downstairs we kept hearing these little bangs, now with our next door neighbours thats nothing unusal as their lad has a dance mat in his room and him and his mates are always on it. Well I kept popping to the bottom of the stairs just in case it was one of ours and couldnt hear anything. Anyway when me & hubby went up to bed it, was about 11ish by then, got into our room and I could hear this shuffling in Abbies room, popped my head round the door and the little bugger was sitting on the floor quite happily playing with her toys. I couldnt help but laugh and obviously she found it funny as well, do you think she would go to sleep in her own bed then no such luck so have slept most of the night with one foot up my nose and the other over my head (dont kids sleep in the funnest positions). Anyway onto these cards I have made. This one is for Cute Card Thursday, with the theme this week being Red & Green.

The image is from Sugar Nellie - Maggie with dotty scarf, the papers & brad are DCWV Christmas Wishes and the buttons and ribbon are from stash.

Forever Friends wk 2

The challenge over at Forever Friends this week was papermania. You had to use at least 3 papers on your card. Not a problem I love mixing papers on my cards. Anyway I also decided to stay within the theme and actually use papers from Papermania.

The image is Forever Friends (obviously) Bear with present stamp coloured in with whispers, papers are Sweet Nothings from Papermania, Prima flowers & Dovecraft brads. Charm from a kids bracelet set from Asda for £1.50.

Mojo Monday wk60

Well I felt a bit better last after the kids had gone to bed, so decided to try and make a couple of cards. Thought I better do Mojo Monday and Forever Friends so not to miss them. Over at Mojo Monday they had a great sketch, but I had a slight Problem I dont have a scalloped circle, so I tried to cut round with some scalloped scissors, its not perfect but I dont think it looks too bad. Sorry about bad picture light is not good here this morning.

I need cheering up !!!!

Ok I am feb up for 2 reasons. The first is that I havent been able to go to the NEC this weekend at all as I was working on Thursday, yesterday I was at dentist and today & tomorrow hubby is at work so have 2 monkeys to look after and there is no way I could have taken them on my own. The second reason is I am in pain, yesterday I went to the dreaded dentist and was supposed to be having a filling, but whilst waiting for the appoinment date part of my tooth actually broke off, so when I went in yesterday I was expecting him to pull it out, luckily he didnt have to do that but has sort of built my tooth back up. I was fine till he got that great big needle out then it went pants from there, I am absolutely petrified of needles. He said I could have the work done without but it would be uncomfortable, so I elected to have the needle to numb my gums. So eyes closed and holding very tightly onto the chair I let him give me the needle and needless to say I didnt feel anything whilst he was doing the work, he drilled away some of the tooth then screwed this thing into my gums so he could bulid round it to build the tooth back up then filled it all in and set it with this lazer thingymajig. When I came out I was so happy I hadn't had to have the tooth out, (as to cut a long story short my mom had hers pulled out two weeks ago and she is still in pain and cant eat properly). Anyway said to hubby I was fine and off we trotted to Asda to get the shopping done. Well thats when it all went downhill, halfway round Asda the anasetic started to wear off and the pain started, by the time I got to the till I was so badly holding back the tears of pain I couldn't even speak to the checkout assistant. Managed to make it back to the car and yes you guess it I cried all the way home. Got in and hubby tucked me up on the sofa with a nice hot water bottle to lie on, and there I stayed for the rest of the day drifting in and out of sleep. I couldnt believe I felt so bad just through having a tooth done. Anyway managed to get up about 8pm last night (needed the loo) and my legs went they just wouldnt hold the weight of my body, So hubby sorted me out and sent me to bed and there I stayed till this morning. Well he has had to go to work today, so here I am looking after the two kids, still in a bit of pain and not being able to eat anything hard, and feeling sorry for myself, so no cards to show today. Hopefully I will feel better tomorrow and give my mojo a kick up the bum, I have so many blog challenges that I want get done.

Circle Sentiment Freebies.

A while ago I made some circle sentiments on my computer, you may have seen them on some of the cards in this blog. I then put them in my gallery on the Docrafts forum for people to downlaod and print off, I had a fantastic response from everyone. Well I have just been over to the lovely Lesley's blog and she has given me a mention on these, so I thought I would pop them onto my blog for you to download and print off. I have put them as Jpegs so you should be able to print them off ok. Let me know what you think, and leave me a little comment if you download them and use them oin your cards so I can pop over to your blog and have a peep.

Secret Crafter Challenge No 6 meets Magnolia V Stampavie

This card combines 2 challenges, Sketch no 6 by Wendy over on the Secret Crafter challenge blog and Week 2 in the Magnolia V Stampavie challenge blog. Which this week is Clean & Simple "A nice clean simple stream line look & no more than 3 colours".

I chose to put these 2 together as I felt that the Secret Crafter sketch fitted in the lines of clean & simple. As you can see the colours I have used are Red, Yellow & Blue (the little flower). Now I wasnt sure about whether hair colour counts so I hope not. Also the stem on the flower is green (do you think I am gonna get away with that cause I could always say blue & yellow = green).
Papers are Doodlebug, Image is Magnolia Tilda with flower, Core'dinations cardstock & PM rub on sentiment.

Baby Girl

Not done much crafting this weekend, was at work all day Saturday, then went out on the night got back in about 1am and had a lovely lie in this morning. Not really got much mojo today so have spent a lazy day just pottering around the house and colouring in some images. I did however make a couple of cards on Friday night which I have not posted yet so these are what I am going to show you now. My niece is about to give birth anyday now and we know that its going to be a girl. So I have made a couple of cards up in advance, these cards are a first for me as they dont actually have an image just a sentiment. I found some lovely Basic Grey rub ons in my stash from the Sugar collection which once I had sorted the sentiments out didnt really need any images on the card. Not sure if I am 100% happy with as I am so used to having an image as the centre piece of the card, so let me know what you think.

Thanks Lyndsey xx

Papers are DCWV Nana's Kids, Sentiment Basic Grey Sugar rub ons, Prima flower, Papermania brad, buttons & ribbon from stash.

Papers & Sentiment are from the Basic Grey Sugar colletion, Prima flowers & Papermania brads, ribbon from stash.

Spoonfull of Sugar Challenge 4/11 meets Papertake 3/11

I have only just found the Spoon Full of Sugar challenge blog so this is the first time I have entered it. This week you had to follow a sketch. For my card I decided to rotate the card and use a DL blank. I have also decided to use this for the Papertake Weekly Challenge as well with the theme simply sparkle, which IU have done with the sparkly brads and backing paper. I sold some cards this week so had a little shopping trip to my new found shop and brought another 2 PB's, another jar of Prima Flowers and some brads. So I decided to use one of my new stamps for this challenge.

Papers are DCWV Nana's Nursery, PB stamp, Prima flowers, Doodlebug sparkly brads, the slits in the corner have been made with a Dovecraft corner punch.

There has been a new challenge blog set up this week the Forever Friends Challenge Blog. Now being that I have a few of these little bear stamps & an abundance of the stickers, I thought I might as well add this to my list of challenges. The theme they have decided on for the first week is with love.I made two cards and couldnt decide which one to post so have put the two of them on.

They have both been done with another new set of Basic Grey papers this time its the Eva collection. Obviously the stamps are Forever Friends, Prima Flowers, Doodlebug sparkly brads, Papermania heart brads & the sentiment is my own computer generated one. The little hanging charm on the top card was made from a childrens bracelet kit that I got from Asda for £1.50 (bargin)

Mojo Monday wk 59

I loved the sketch over at Mojo Monday this week as its just the sort I like, Clean, simple & not too fussy. As you can see I am still loving my PB Ginger stamp which I used as the image on this card as I thought it fitted in with the rectangle.

I decided to go with quite a bright colour scheme with this one with gave me that chance to use my new Basic Grey papers Offbeat collection. The image is PB Ginger, prima flowers, Doodlebug sparkly brads, Crafty Bits handbag charm & Papermania rub ons for the sentiment.

I Love your blog award

I Have very kindly been given this award from the fabulous Mrs Wonka. Its is such an honour to receive these awards as it really makes me happy knowing that people like my cards enough to pass these awards onto me.

I have to pass this award onto 7 people. I have tried to be fair so I have given this award to people who I didnt give the last one to, and to those who I cant see this award on their blog. I would like to say however that I wish I could give this to every person who's blogs I peep at cause they are all so fab. But I think that the people who I pass this onto will prob pass it over to them anayway as we seem to follow the same peeps.
So I give this award to Amanda, Tab, Michele, Lesley, Janet, Tara & Lynsey

Penny Black Ginger

This is another card which I made with Ginger last night. It was originally for the PBSC but I thought it was a bit plain in the end and so I made the other one. Anyway I still quite like it so thought I would pop it on and show you.

Papers are DCWV All Dressed up Glitter Stack, PB Ginger stamp, PM gems, Crafty Bits handbag charm & computer generated sentiment.

It was well worth going to see and they have just kept getting better with each one shame this is the last one, maybe they should college years or something. This is def going on my DVD must have list, along with Sex & the City & Mama Mia. I am very much a chick flick girl can you tell lol!!!

Cheeky Monkey

I made this card for a friend of mine for her daughters friend (are you still with me). Anyway she always gives me an idea of what the person is into for every card I make for her. (she wont actually by one from a shop anymore and gives me 3 month list for me to work to). Clemence the little girl apparently loves monkeys, and I thought OMG where am I gonna get a nice image from. Then I remembered some kids decoupage we had in the shop ages ago from Craft House called Jungle Party. Well went down to the shop and looked through the decoupage sheets and eventually (we have lots & lots of decoupage) found 1 sheet. This is what I came up with.

Papers are Papermania spring colosal pack, Craft House Decoupage,Core'dinations cardstock, Dovecraft ribbon, flowers from stash. Sentiment was computer generated.

Well I dont have anything to do with bonfire or fireworks but I do have my new Ginger stamp which I got last week and have been dying to try out but have been too busy making xmas cards. Well I am fed up of those now some am having a couple of days off them. I decided to go for the sparkle root and glittered up Gingers dress & Bag.

The papers are Basic Grey Cupcake collection, PB Ginger stamp matted onto lemon Core'dinations cardstock, flowers & buttons from stash & Dovecraft ribbon. The sentiment is my own computer generated. As I said above Ginger's dress & bag have been glittered with Glamour Dust (doesnt really show up that well on pic).Hope you like.
